Modern design great for featuring fab fabrics

Last one for a while in the "fabric featuring" set of patterns. This one called BQ from Maple Island Quilts is really, really cool and looks complicated. But I'm pretty sure looking closer that it's pretty simple with all rectangles and squares.

The blocks are a huge 18" with the single fabric square making up 12" of that. So a fabric (or fabrics) with a large pattern would be perfect here. And even though the pattern doesn't call for a border, you could toss one on anyway, if you like.

The pattern has a 48" square size meant for a wall hanging. I would think you could just do one more row of blocks and get a 48"x66" size. There's a 54" wide lap size as well, so there's some math off here somewhere for me! Not sure how you can go from 48" wide to 54" wide without borders with an 18" block. Huh.
