Appliqued borders make this baby quilt special

Cute new baby quilt pattern up on the Moda Bake Shop blog. It's basically a version of Chinese coins with some adorable applique out in the borders. Usually by the time I get to the outer borders, I'm ready to be done and move on to the next one!

I am working on some ideas for adding a little "extra" to my baby quilts. What special touches have you done or plan to do? Do you think the time taken for a baby quilt is worth it?

Thanks for leaving a comment on my funky baby quilt on my blog - believe it or not, the border fabric actually came after the centre (but still from stash), which was just done from scraps. Hard to believe it, but it magically worked...
