2011 Challenge - What's up?

I realized when I came to add a few more quilts I had finally finished that I hadn't been doing a good job of taking pictures and posting when I did finish projects. I have a whole pile on my floor that I apparently never took pictures of and definitely never posted about. Actually, I could have sworn I took pictures, but danged if I can find them. And of course, one of them I already gave away, so no good record of that one now. Boo.

So, you'll be seeing a few more posts from me here soon as I get pictures taken and those posts up so I can continue chronicling this project. Finally getting around to quilting tops that I finished in 2011, but have been sitting in a drawer since then. Taught myself to knit last year, so guess what I've been doing instead of quilting lately?

2011 Challenge: Amish Sparkle - Boy

baby quilt made with baseball fabric

Well - not sure what's going on with that second picture, exactly. Tilt your head to the right time!

Finally wrapped this one up a week or so ago in a flurry of "clear out old projects". Quilted the center the same as the other two in this pattern and then just did straight lines around the entire thing in the border. Reasonably pleased with how the how thing came out.

2011 Challenge: Circles of Love - Boy

big baby quilt in blue angel fabrics

This particular pattern makes a really big quilt! And there are so many triangles in there! No wonder it took awhile to piece, but it's actually been sitting around in my drawers waiting to be quilted for at least a year.

Part of the challenge always is getting the back put together if I'm going to piece it, and there was a lot of piecing in this one, as you can see. I used up some half-square triangles from the front, then big pieces of the various fabrics I made it with. (Because I am trying to get them out of my fabric closet!)

Need to go back to take some closer pics - I did straight lines through the various paths, then free motioned curved-sided squares inside the block centers in a kind of an echo. Didn't draw them on first, which always means there is no telling just how well it's going to come out! Just did a scribble in the border to finish it off because I was so ready to be done. Big quilt in small machine is just tough!
